Since she left The Voice in 2017, Miley Cyrus has continued to progress her music career. Now that she’s once again reintroduced herself as a pop star, perhaps it’s time for her to return to the singing reality series.
Miley Cyrus Served as The Voice Coach for Two Seasons
Cyrus first entered The Voice as coach in 2016 for Season 11, joining Alicia Keys, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton on the panel. Although it was her first time as a coach, it wasn’t her first time on the show. She actually served as key adviser back in season 10. Unluckily, the pop star failed to send anyone from team to the Finale.
The “Wrecking Ball” singer took a hiatus in Season 12 to pursue other projects. She came back for Season 13 alongside newcomer Jennifer Hudson. At the time, Cyrus went further in the competition, finishing in third place with her artist Brooke Simpson. The duo performed Cyrus’s most famous single at the time, “Wrecking Ball.”
Unfortunately, Cyrus hasn’t returned to The Voice since season 13. During her 2017 appearance on The Howard Stern Show, she revealed that she wasn’t included in the lineup of coaches for the next seasons.
“This is my — maybe not my last season forever, but [after] this season, I don’t have any more seasons lined up. So I’m done,” she said.
While there was no specific reason why Cyrus left The Voice, she shared that an unfortunate moment that happened then on set. Her dog named Little Dog got electrocuted chewing on wires during filming.
Should She Come Back to the Music Competition Show?
Years after her time on The Voice, Cyrus revamped herself as a pop star and introduced new music. She’s definitely gained more experience as she’s gotten older, which has helped her in developing a new artist persona.
With several new things to offer now, including adding the title Grammy Award winner, it’s time for Cyrus to come back to The Voice. Cyrus is definitely a more accomplished musician since she departed from the show.
There’s a huge possibility that Cyrus will return to The Voice in Season 29, in place of Kelly Clarkson. Following Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock passing away, it was announced that she would be sitting out from multiple tapings of The Voice 29 this summer.
