John Legend Talks About Blake Shelton on The Voice
In an interview with E! News, Legend was asked if Shelton and Stefani are more competitive with each other as husband and wife. Legend responded, “No, they’re not. It’s softened Blake. He’s gone soft on us.”
Legend went on to say that “it takes a little of his edge off” when Stefani is on the show. He added that Shelton is “losing country singers now” and said the longtime coach is “a little bit defanged by Gwen being here.”
Shelton and Stefani first met on the set of The Voice back in 2014, but this is the first time they’re appearing on the show together as a married couple. They tied the knot in July 2021 and recently celebrated their first wedding anniversary.
Last month, Shelton said that he liked working with Stefani because she’s “one of the least competitive people I know.” He added, “Being on a competition show with your wife, who is also not competitive, is the greatest situation you can be in.”

But you gotta be true to yourself, you gotta keep doing your thing, you gotta know who you are, not change that. And then eventually … people will start to come to you.”
