Meet The Lazy Generation, ‘AGT’s Polarizing New Act from the UK

During this week’s new episode of America’s Got Talent, we were introduced to a new act called The Lazy Generation. The group is from London, England, and judge Howie Mandel described them as “the English version of Jackass.”
The Lazy Generation Auditions for AGT
Before their audition on AGT, The Lazy Generation described themselves as “a group of athletes” who “create sports with a bit of a twist.” Their performance started with most of the group members lying on the stage while another one tried to leap over them. He ended up falling, of course.
The group then moved into the boxing ring to have a pillow fight. The twist was that they had pepper spray in their eyes and thumbtacks on the ground, and at one point they got zapped with a cattle prod. Some members ended the audition with tacks in their bare feet.
Judge Sofia Vergara buzzed the act, while fellow Brit Simon Cowell gave them a standing ovation, calling it “the British equivalent of the ballet.” Heidi Klum said it was “such a hot mess that it was kind of good at the same time.”
The Lazy Generation earned three “yes” votes from the judges, while Vergara voted “no.” Cowell told her to “listen to the audience,” who cheered for the act.

The Group Had a Comedy Central UK Series
Mandel hit the nail on the head when he compared The Lazy Generation to Jackass, a TV and movie series featuring ridiculous stunts. In a YouTube video, the group said they “do stupid, dangerous stuff to make ourselves laugh.”
Earlier this year, the group had a series called “Lazy Generation: Stupid Stunts” on Comedy Central UK’s YouTube channel. You can also see clips of their outrageous stunts on Instagram and TikTok, as well as their own YouTube channel.
Stunts have included walking on a treadmill while blindfolded as LEGOs are placed under bare feet, shooting a cactus out of a T-shirt cannon, and kissing a slingshot. If they make it to the next round on AGT, there’s no doubt we’ll see something truly over-the-top.
And it probably goes without saying, but don’t try any of this at home.
