FOX announced their New Year’s Eve special is officially canceled. They announced that their plans for the live show has been cancelled since the surge of Omicron coronavirus variant. The second annual New Year’s Eve Toast & Roast was supposed to be hosted by The Masked Singer‘s Ken Jeong and frequent guest judge Joel McHale.

On Tuesday, FOX released a statement that shared their reasoning. In the end, it all comes down to the rapid spread of the new virus strain. The Masked Singer judge Ken Jeong, and frequent guest judge Joel McHale were going to be the hosts of Fox’s New Year’s Eve Toast & Roast 2022. On top of these celebrities, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5, Billy Idol, Pink and Trace Adkins were going to perform live.

“While we are confident in the health and safety protocols for Fox’s New Year’s Eve Toast & Roast 2022, the recent velocity of the spread of Omicron cases has made it impossible to produce a live special in Times Square that meets our standards,” said Fox Entertainment. “We will not be moving forward with Fox’s New Year’s Eve Toast & Roast 2022 in New York. The health and safety of our casts and crews has always been, and will continue to be, of the utmost importance. Replacement programming for New Year’s Eve on Fox will be announced in the coming days.”

At this time, FOX is the only network that has shared plans to cancel their New Year’s Eve live broadcast. This statement came out late Tuesday, soon after New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio expressed uncertainty to the Time’s Square festivities last sunday.

Fans Support Ken Jeong’s Message Following Fox’s New Year’s Eve Toast & Roast 2022 Cancellation

Since the network shared this announcement, Ken Jeong said that he is in support of the cancellation. Jeong is a licensed physician who stopped practicing medicine to pursue acting. Since the variant of the virus was discovered, Jeong has been open to sharing his point of view on the situation.

Some of Jeong’s fans shared their support of the comedian and praised the network for making the right decision.

“Just do a live on social media!” One Instagram fan said. “Either way we were gonna watch through a screen!”

In the comment section you’ll see plenty of people reacting on both sides of the spectrum. Many fans are complaining about how Jeong chooses to use his social media. This comedian has never shied away from stating his opinion on the internet. His social medias have reflected both The Masked Singer and the coronavirus for months.
