Suni Lee Lands Her First 10 of the ‘DWTS’ Season, Overcoming Online Bullying

After a challenging week during Queen Night, Suni Lee and partner Sasha Farber showed up for Janet Jackson night earning their first perfect score of the season. The pair danced a samba to Jackson’s “All for You,” and this one was all for Suni.
Last week, Suni ran off the stage after her first dance to throw up as she had been sick all week. Her partner Sasha posted a tribute to the Olympic gymnast before the performance warning fans that Suni could use a bit of extra support. The two made it through the week with high scores despite Suni’s nausea, and they returned for the quarterfinals.
“This is the time to really step it up I just needed to let go and do my thing,” Suni said before hitting the dance floor.
Ahead of the performance, Suni and Sasha discussed Suni’s health after being sick, but also her mental health as the competition continues. Suni joked that she needs to just delete her social media because of the online comments.
While Suni has had one of the greatest improvements of the season, viewers have still been negative in the comments of her posts, Suni said. People expected her to be a natural dancer because she is so athletic. When she didn’t start out the season at the top of the leaderboard, many said she needed to just go home already.
Suni is now coming for the haters. She and Sasha absolutely crushed this Samba. The star began her dance with a performance with some professional backup dancers that intensely impressed the judges.
“I see you for the first time in HD,” said judge Bruno Tonioli. “You had pros around you and you could be one of them, 100% authentic samba.”
Suni went on to get the Ten from Len along with every other judge for a well-deserved perfect score, her first of the season.
Suni and Sasha are back tonight for the semi-finals. They will perform a redemption Foxtrot to “Haven’t Met You Yet” by Michael Buble. For their new dance, the two will perform a Contemporary to “Gravity” by Sara Bareilles.
Voting will open at the beginning of the show until the last commercial break of the night and tonight, more than ever, your favorite stars need your vote to make it to the finals.
