From first stepping onto the scene as a fashion model, Banks has ventured on to become an actress, business woman, and host. While there’s no doubt that she possesses many talents, hosting has never really been her strong suit. From her very own talk show, to her roles on America’s Got Talent and Dancing with the Stars, Banks gave us a number of cringe-worthy moments.
Tyra Banks Feels Up Katharine McPhee
Over the course of her talk show days, Banks proved to be inappropriate on more than one occasion. In 2007, her interview with American Idol alum Katharine McPhee crossed over into some physical territory. During their chat, the topic of whether or not McPhee’s breasts were real came up (for whatever reason.) McPhee expressed verbal frustration on the subject, which in turn led Banks to cop a feel for herself. While she did ask for permission, McPhee was put on the spot in this awkward interaction.
Banks Flubs Results on Dancing with the Stars
Last season, Banks accidentally announced the wrong couple in the bottom two during an episode of Dancing with the Stars. There, three couples waiting to hear their fate in the competition: Anne Heche and Keo Motsepe, Chrishell Stause and Gleb Savchenko, and Vernon Davis and Peta Murgatroyd.
In the results, Banks announced Heche and Motsepe and Davis and Murgatroyd in the bottom two. After much confusion, Banks realized there had been an error and clarified the bottom two couples were actually Heche and Motsepe and Monica Aldama and Val Chmerkovskiy, who had already been announced as safe.
The AGT Host Gets Up Close and Personal with Vicki Barbolak
In 2018, fans caught quite a strange moment between Banks and AGT finalist Vicki Barbolak. While delivering her final remarks to the contestant, Banks got a little too close for comfort. At one point, it even appeared as if the host was leaning in for a kiss. Believe me, fans did not hold back on Twitter on this one.
“She must be drunk or something… That was so awkward! She needs to be voted off AGT too,” one fan commented.
Preacher Lawson Misses Reference to Banks’s Iconic “I Was Rooting For You” Speech
Back in 2017, while speaking to Howie Mandel’s daughter Jackelyn Shultz during an interview, Banks attempted to repeat her famous “I Was Rooting For You” speech from America’s Next Top Model to contestant Preacher Lawson. The encounter quickly turned awkward as Preacher did not get the reference. Banks even told him to “Google it.”

In the height of the craze surrounding the Twilight franchise, stars of the film, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner made an appearance on Tyra. It’s safe to say, the interview was filled with a series of cringe-worthy moments. Off the bat, the interview turned awkward when Tyra asked Pattinson to bite her on the neck while demonstrating an embarrassing English accent.
But it doesn’t end there. Banks then took a moment to present her guests with women’s underwear labeled “Team Robert” and “Team Taylor.”

Tyra is very unprofessional. I’ve read that she is an Executive Producer and feel with her money she will not be replaced.
Obviously her net worth is proof she was a successful businesswoman for years. It’s unfortunate she didn’t quite while she was ahead. She makes a fool out of herself every week. And DWTS let’s her do just that.
Tom Bergeson and Erin Andrews were class acts! I can just barely watch the show that is dreadful with Tyra.
