Jennifer Hudson Flaunts “EGO” Ring, She’s Now Just a Tony Away From EGOT Status

Jennifer Hudson is no stranger to awards, and the list keeps on growing. Hudson recently won an Emmy for her work on Baba Yaga and flaunted a gold ring reading “EGO” to celebrate. This award completes the trifecta of accolades Hudson has always aimed to achieve. An Emmy, Grammy, and an Oscar and she is just a Tony Award away from the esteemed EGOT club.
Hudson accepted her Emmy award on Thursday as an executive producer on Baba Yaga, a 27-minute animated fairytale. Made for the Oculus Quest, the show’s victory comes in the category of Outstanding Interactive Media for a Daytime Program. T
his, in turn, places Hudson just one trophy away of becoming a coveted EGOT winner. A recipient of an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony Award. By the way things are going, it seems she may have to add an extra letter to that ring in the future.
Jennifer Hudson’s Emmy Win for Baba Yaga
The mysterious tale of Baba Yaga, is rooted in classic folklore. In a modern twist, the short film focuses on environmental themes and strong female characters. In addition to her role as executive producer, Hudson also voices the character The Forest.
In this universe, The Forest is filled with energy and life. It also incorporates spirits that inhabit the trees and plants. The non-human character exudes multiple personalities, as no two trees are the same. In this tale, The Forest attempts to scare away misguided villagers from entering. As more humans continue to destroy the natural habitat, the character takes on a dark approach in response to the village threats.
Kate Winslet, Daisy Ridley, and Glenn Close also contribute to the empowering female presence in the work. Hudson took a moment to thank the cast, team, and everyone involved with the film on Instagram.

What’s Next for the Emmy Winner?
Most recently, Hudson played Aretha Franklin in the biopic, Respect. Her standout performance in the film is circulating major Oscar buzz. In 2006, the singer and actress took home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in Dreamgirls.
These days, Hudson is expressing her desire to play a Disney character. Rumors of a live action Hercules have been circulating for some time, and Hudson is eager to play Calliope, the movie’s head muse.
“Where’s my Disney role? But, I was Calliope, the head muse, on a Disney cruise ship, so that means I’m ready for my part,” Hudson said. “We are the Muses, goddesses of the arts and proclaimers of heroes. Who put the glad in Gladiators? Hercules! That was me, Calliope. So I’m ready, just roll the camera. You ain’t even got to send a script, I don’t need the music. I’m ready to shoot. So I’ll just wait for your call, thank you.”
