Katy Perry Exposed for Making Hilarious Face During ‘American Idol’ Group Hug

National Hug Day isn’t until January 21, but Lionel Richie is getting a head start with a hilarious hugging photo posted to his Instagram account. His post is making us miss American Idol after its dynamite finale in May. Katy Perry’s face is priceless as she is sandwiched in between her American Idol castmates.
Lionel Richie Calls Out Katy Perry For Making a Hilarious Face on ‘American Idol’
Perry looks super awkward as Luke Bryan wraps his arm around her. Richie is beaming from ear to ear in the photo as he holds onto Perry. Ryan Seacrest looks tiny wedged in the back of this American Idol family photo. The outfits that the judges are wearing in this photo are the same outfits that they wore in the finale of Season 19 of American Idol.
During a finale segment, Seacrest asked Richie how he made it through the season without hugging anybody. Due to social distancing rules, the judges did not have any physical contact with each other or the contestants. Richie said he was “tortured” by not being able to give out hugs. They all decided that since they have followed the rules for the entire season that they can all have one big group hug.
Bryan leaned in to playfully kiss Seacrest and Richie on the cheek. Seacrest said that he wishes he was “taller and stronger.” Perry commented that she could finally smell everybody. The entire time during the hug, Perry faced the camera with a funny expression. It was a cross between seeing a ghost and being majorly uncomfortable. Finally, she was able to break apart from the embrace and advised fans to use #AmericanIdolHugs if they enjoyed the segment.
The Judges Had Some Fun with Perry’s Wig

Perry really is comedy gold on American Idol. All of her antics and quirky moments are very much appreciated. From crawling around on the floor dressed as a cow to ripping the wig off of her head, Perry is the real star of the show. Since Richie exposed Perry for making that crazy face, it’s only fair to expose Richie for his wig moment.
After Chayce Beckham was crowned the winner of American Idol, the judges had a little afterparty to celebrate. Perry took off her wig and snapped photos of Richie and Bryan trying it on. Richie actually looks kind of amazing with the wig on. Bryan on the other hand not so much. There is no trio with better energy than the current American Idol judges and their wig-snatching moments.
