Graham DeFranco Shaves Beard in Protest of Hunter Metts’ ‘Idol’ Elimination

Graham DeFranco is probably the most hilarious contestant to come out of Season 19 of American Idol. He was eliminated far too early — before the Top 12. Graham has been owning social media and showing America why they made a huge mistake in sending him home.
Graham DeFranco Wants Justice for Hunter Metts After ‘American Idol’ Elimination
The 27-year-old aerial survey pilot struck up an amazing friendship with contestant Hunter Metts while he was on the show. You may have noticed that during the live performances after Graham was eliminated, he watched the show with Hunter’s family in Franklin, Tennesee.
“We met in Hollywood Week and we like hit it off really well,” Hunter said. “He actually came and stayed with me in Tennessee. Between that time we got to do some open mics and work on music.”
Graham drove nine hours to be with Hunter’s family to watch him perform on television. It makes sense why he was absolutely devastated to see Hunter sent home this week ahead of the Top 5. To protest this elimination, Graham decided the only way to get justice for Hunter was to shave off his beard.
Graham documented his dramatic makeover on his Instagram Story. He added the hashtag #justiceforhunter as he got rid of his iconic beard that we have all fallen in love with over the season. About halfway through, Graham started to regret his decision.
We also saw Graham the following week watching Chayce Beckham’s performance with his family in Shawnee, Oklahoma. The bromance between the pair has continued even after Graham’s elimination from the show, which still stings.
Fans Are Still Furious Over Hunter’s Elimination
Now, Graham is obviously not the only person torn up about Hunter’s elimination. Hunter and Arthur Gunn were both sent home as the show narrowed down to the top five. Fans feel like Hunter was robbed and should have made it on to perform his winner’s single on stage.
“Just watched last night’s #AmericanIdol and America are so stupid for voting off Hunter Metts and Arthur Gunn…they were literally the two best on the show. I don’t even want to watch the finals now. I’m shook,” one person wrote on Twitter.
Now with Hunter out of the competition, it is almost impossible to predict the winner after he captivated the audience each week.
