The competition is heating up on The Voice season 20 and the coaches already have their eyes on a favorite. The season is not even halfway through, and the coaches have already declared the unofficial winner. His name is Kenzie Wheeler.
Kenzie Wheeler Knocks Out the Competition
As members of Team Kelly, on Monday’s episode of The Voice Kenzie Wheeler and Avery Robertson battled it out for the last Knockouts of Season 20.
Robertson sang a moving ballad of Chris Young’s “Tomorrow,” while Wheeler performed a lively rendition of Luke Combs’ “Beer Never Broke My Heart.” Originally from Dover, Florida, Wheeler’s performance brought the virtual audience to their metaphorical feet. He had all four The Voice coaches clapping along to his performance. Robertson’s performance was good, but the coaches made it clear that Wheeler stole the show.
Blake Shelton Gushes Over Kenzie Wheeler
Shelton, the country superstar gushed over Wheeler even more when he told him, “You’re probably gonna win this show.”
It is apparent that Shelton is a huge fan of Wheeler and his signature mullet. Shelton even made a comment that it was a shame that Kelly Clarkson blocked him from taking Wheeler.
What Do We Know About Kenzie Wheeler?
There is still so much to learn about the heartthrob known as Kenzie Wheeler. As Wheeler makes his way up the industry ladder to become a country music sensation, there are some interesting things Wheeler was up to before he succeeded on The Voice.
1. Kenzie’s Mother Submitted Him for The Voice
Kenzie has a pretty supportive mother. She knew her son was talented and took matters into her own hands to give him the exposure he needed. She pushed him to do it and now Wheeler is on his way to become season 20’s winner of The Voice.
2. He Has Already Released a Debut Album
He already has a strong music foundation and is years ahead of some of the other contestants on the show. Singers on the show have a variety of experience levels, but not many have albums. In November 2018, Wheeler released his full-length album, Dover, which is named after his hometown.
3. Before Appearing on The Voice, Wheeler Worked a Regular Day Job
The Covid-19 pandemic hit many people extremely hard over the last year. When he was not working on his career, the 22-year-old spent his days working as a driver of a pallet truck at a grocery store warehouse before he appeared on season 20.
4. The Voice is Not Kenzie’s First Singing Competition
This is Wheeler’s first time on television, but he competed in numerous talent shows in the past. He even won Tampa Teen Idol in 2016. The winning song was Chris Janson’s Buy Me A Boat.
5. Kenzie Has Opened For Big country Music Artists
He already has a detailed resume of stage performances. When he was starting out in his career, Kenzie became an opening act for some big country music artists, including Craig Campbell and Charlie Daniels.
6. Kenzie Enjoys Uploading Singing Vids to His YouTube and Tiktok accounts
Kenzie has a YouTube channel where he uploaded videos of him singing, as well as some of his prior musical performances. His Tiktok currently has almost thirty thousand followers.
