Connie Talbot was just six years old when she auditioned for Season 1 of Britains Got Talent in 2007. The adorable singer was automatically loved by the audience. Talbot performed with the famous song “Over The Rainbow” from the movie The Wizard of Oz. She left the judges teary-eyed and emotional with her soothing voice. They all approved for her to go on in the competition. Simon Cowell even told her, “I’m going to talk to you like an adult because I think it’s important, I thought you were fantastic.”
Connie Returns to ‘BGT’: The Champions
Unfortunately, Connie didn’t win the show, but she decided to return to the competition show 12 years later on BGT: The Champions. Her return shocked the judges with how much she has grown and how stunning she became. Cowell joked with her saying “Connie, you have teeth!” making fun of the fact that in her first audition she was missing several front teeth.
The young singer performed an original song for her audition singing “Never Give Up On Us.” She was praised by the judges for singing an original song. They even called her brave for doing so. Cowell also said that he will always remember her audition for the rest of his life and that they wouldn’t be sitting here today if it wasn’t for her and thanked her. Connie was able to go through to the next round and got a standing ovation when she performed another original song, “I would” on the piano. Even though she got a standing ovation it wasn’t enough to make it to the semifinals and was eliminated alongside Bars & Melodi.
