Simon Cowell hit the Golden Buzzer for a very special act on BGT in 2014. A young musical duo named Bars & Melody wowed the crowd with a powerful anti-bullying song.

Bars & Melody Audition For ‘BGT’
The duo announced that they would be performing a version of “Hope” by Twista and Faith Evans, with rap verses written by Leondre himself. It was inspired by his own experience being bullied in primary school.

Leondre said he would write raps when he felt down about his situation. “I could express myself through what I was writing down,” he explained. His mom said Leondre stood up to his bully and “resolved the situation.”
Charlie said there was an “automatic connection” when he met Leondre, who described them as brothers. “I think music’s made him a lot stronger,” Charlie said of his friend. “If it wasn’t for his music, he wouldn’t be as confident and as cheeky, you know?”
The audience cheered for the duo as they performed their song. Charlie sang the song’s chorus while Leondre rapped about his story. The BGT judges were clearly touched by the performance.
Bars & Melody Receive The Golden Buzzer
After the performance, the audience chanted for the BGT judges to push the Golden Buzzer. Simon Cowell answered the call, and Leondre and Charlie embraced as confetti rained down.
