There have been quite a few comedians on the America’s Got Talent stage over the years, but none of them have ever won the show (unless they’re also a ventriloquist). In fact, it’s common for comedians to get eliminated earlier in the competition, as singers, dancers, and other performers earn more votes.

But that doesn’t mean those comedians weren’t talented. In fact, a lot of them even got judge Simon Cowell to laugh. Let’s look back at some of the best comedians from years past who left the competition too soon.

AGT Comedians Who Should Have Gone Further

1. Cam Bertrand

This comedian auditioned for Season 16 of the show with a routine about looking young for his age. He joked about wanting to buy wine for his birthday and the cashier thinking he was underage. The judges clearly enjoyed his set, but Cam was unfortunately eliminated before the next round of the competition.

2. Julia Scotti

In Season 11 of the show, this 63-year-old comedian set out to prove that age is just a number as she joked about how her “foliage is starting to change color” and her “primary care doctor is a paleontologist.” Julia made it through the Judge Cuts, but she was eliminated in the Quarterfinals.

3. Jodi Miller

This comedian auditioned in Season 9 with a funny routine about how women are like dogs and men are like cats. The entire judging panel gave Jodi a standing ovation for her performance, with Heidi Klum saying she’s never laughed as much for a comedian. Even after getting four “yes” votes, Jodi didn’t make it to the next round.

5. Marty Ross

This 80-year-old comedian auditioned for Season 15 of AGT with jokes about aging. He talked about mishearing a woman’s story about having a “peanut allergy,” making Simon Cowell choke on his drink. The judges voted to send Marty through, but he didn’t end up making it to the next round.
