Dr. Shelley Sykes was eager to perform her original song called “Sexy Single & Ready To Mingle” on Australia’s Got Talent in 2010. While she did have a ton of energy during the performance, the judges were confused and a little uncomfortable by the song choice. It’s an audition that you have to see for yourself down below.

Dr. Shelley Sykes Performed Weird Rap Song On ‘Australia’s Got Talent’

Shelley said that she came onto the show to empower other people. She has written several books in the past but felt like singing was her next calling to conquer. She was rather confident that she could go on to win the entire show. Hip-hop music began blaring over the speakers and Shelly began whispering the word “sexy” over and over again while opening and closing a book.

She got up from the seat she was sitting on and began strutting across the stage. The audience was shielding their faces with secondhand embarrassment as she did a combination of rapping and singing. Judge Kyle Sandilands tried to hit his red buzzer but for some reason, it did not work. He repeatedly pushed down on it and still, the red x above the stage would not light up.

This prompted the other judges to try and push their red buzzers but they did not work either. They began hitting the buttons at record speed all the while Shelley continued with her bizarre song unbothered that the judges were trying to stop her act. Finally, the red buzzers stopped malfunctioning and they were able to successfully hit them. This shut down Shelley’s act. The judges got right down to business and voted “no” with  judge Brian McFadden jokingly giving Shelley a “yes.” She did not advance on in the competition.

Where Is Shelley Now?

After appearing on Australia’s Got Talent, Shelley has continued to pursue a career as a media personality, singer and author. She has won five USA Best Book Awards for five books in one year. She is reportedly the only author to receive this honor so many times in a short time span and has done international speaking engagements. Shelley has gotten to work with and meet big names including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Nelson Mandela and Quincy Jones just to name a few.

She even released a remix to her song “Sexy Single & Ready To Mingle” in 2017 on YouTube. She dons a red bikini in the music video and mingles on a beach with friends. As a mother of a special needs child, she started Happy Charity and Global Happiness Day Campaign which is now celebrated in 219 countries.
