Britain’s Got Talent has shared an early release audition from this week’s new episode of Series 19, featuring a 12-year-old singer named James Miller, who wowed the judges with his cover of “Defying Gravity” from Wicked.
Singer Wows the Judges in BGT Early Release
Young singer James Miller seemed nervous when he introduced himself to the BGT judges, sharing that he was 12 years old. Then he launched into an absolutely incredible cover of “Defying Gravity,” showing off a great voice and a strong stage presence.
The judges were stunned by James’ performance, giving him a standing ovation while the crowd went wild for him. In a sweet moment, James took a bow as the audience cheered for him. Alesha Dixon referred to the “magic moment” at the end of the song, telling James he “smashed it.”
“I cannot believe that a little sausage like you has the pipes for something so huge,” Amanda Holden said, while guest judge Stacey Solomon complimented James’ falsetto and said his performance was “absolutely phenomenal.”
James received four “yes” votes from the judges to move on in the competition. It might come as a surprise that none of them chose to press the Golden Buzzer for his performance.
This week, TV personality Stacey Solomon will be sitting on the BGT panel, filling in for Simon Cowell. The show shared a brief preview clip showing the humor Solomon brought to the show in her role as a guest judge.
The video shows a performance from a sexy all-male dance group called Agua, who show off some spicy moves in matching white suits. Afterward, Solomon points to one member of the group named Antonio and tells him, “You kept poking your tongue out. I don’t know if you’re aware.”
When Antonio asks if he was sticking his tongue out “too much,” Solomon replies, “Yeah, a little bit too much.” The comment made her fellow judges laugh, and Antonio also showed good humor about it.
BGT Series 19 returns this Saturday night at 6:45 p.m. on ITV1, ITVX and STV.
