Blake Shelton recently opened up about spending time with girlfriend Gwen Stefani and her three kids during quarantine. Blake admitted it can be “scary” being a parent figure.

Blake, Gwen, and her sons Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo are spending the pandemic together on Blake’s Oklahoma ranch. Blake and Gwen also just released a new country duet together.

Blake Shelton On Being A Parent Figure To Gwen Stefani’s Kids

Gwen recently paid tribute to Blake on Father’s Day, thanking him for “helping me raise these boys.” Blake spoke to Today on Friday about spending time with Gwen and her kids during the pandemic.

“Pretty much this year, we’ve been doing things I wish I had time to do for the last 20 years. That’s literally stupid things like pick blackberries,” he said. “We grew a garden. We grew several acres of sweet corn.”

However, Blake also said it’s been “a scary moment for me” to take on a more parental role with Gwen’s kids. “It’s one thing to be with the kids all the time and be their buddy but you do have to consider after a while that they start to listen to things that you say,” he shared. “There’s a lot of responsibility that comes with that which is new to me.”

Blake has no children of his own, although he was previously married to country singer Miranda Lambert. He and Gwen started dating in 2015, after meeting on the set of The Voice. Gwen is returning as a coach for the new season.

He added that Gwen is more surprised by their country success than he is, because “she just never imagined hearing herself on country radio. She’s been listening for the last five years I guess and has just really fallen in love with country music.”

Blake and Gwen also recorded their music video for “Happy Anywhere” from quarantine, with Blake’s brother behind the camera. It features cute home videos of the couple hanging out, with Gwen’s kids making cameos.
