Blake Shelton Made This CRAZY Wish For Gwen Stefani — It Just Came True!
The Voice coach Blake Shelton recently made a wild wish for his girlfriend Gwen Stefani. What he put out into the universe apparently came back to him, as that wish came true this week.
Blake Shelton’s Wish For Gwen Stefani
Blake made the wish on a recent Instagram Live with Songland‘s Shane McAnally, who co-wrote “Nobody But You.” It was moving up the charts at the time, and Blake shared his hope that it would reach No. 1.
“We’re hoping it goes all the way to the top, for everybody involved, but for me personally to know that Gwen Stefani is a part of a No. 1 country song,” Blake said with a laugh. “What is this world?”
“Look what you did,” Shane joked. And it turns out Blake did a lot more than just get Gwen to go country. He got her to go country and then go to No. 1 on the Country Airplay chart.
Last week, the song was No. 2, behind “I Hope” by former American Idol contestant Gabby Barrett. This week, “Nobody But You” finally reached the top after being released as a single in January.
Blake Congratulates Gwen On Social Media
Blake tweeted his congratulations to Gwen on Twitter Monday. “Congratulations @gwenstefani on your first country song going #1 at country radio!!!” he wrote. “Not bad for your first try!!!!!”
Gwen retweeted him and added her shock over the achievement. “Trying to wrap my head around the fact that I even get to know you Blake Shelton,” she wrote, “let alone be on such a beautiful classic duet [with you]?!” She thanked him for taking her “along on this ride.”
Blake and Gwen have recorded three duets, but at the Grammys earlier this year, they said they had no plans to release an album together. Maybe the success of this latest song will get them to change their minds.
