We Ranked Ariana Grande’s Vevo Live Performances After Playing Them on Repeat For a Year
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Last summer, Ariana Grande put a series of live performances with video hosting service, Vevo. This live series featured multiple tracks from her album Positions, which quickly became a fan-favorite. To celebrate their arrival nearly a year ago, here are our favorite Vevo official live performances ranked.
Ariana Grande once again proved herself as an outstanding artist while partnering with Vevo for a series of live sessions. Even though her sixth studio album originally premiered in 2020, the singer continued its success with the live series. We loved this performance series last summer, so it’s only right for us to return to them a year later. After a year, here’s which Ariana Grande Vevo live performances are our favorites.
6. “off the table” featuring The Weeknd
This wasn’t my favorite song on Positions before the live series and this performance didn’t change my mind. I love Grande and The Weeknd’s collaborations, just not this song. On the bright side, both artists showcased their silky smooth vocals in this performance. Even though it’s not my favorite, “off the table” was heavenly in this format.
5. “safety net” featuring Ty Dolla $ign
This performance is great because Grande and Ty Dolla $ign sound just like the studio version. Their voices mesh really well together in this. While this performance is strong, I wouldn’t call it one of my favorites, I typically choose to listen to another song over this one.
4. “34+35”
“34+35” is always a bop, but it didn’t feel like Grande was bringing enough energy. She strutted around the stage while singing, but didn’t really seem fully into it until the end. Regardless, you’ll always see me dancing and singing along to this performance.
3. “my hair”
Grande’s vocals are over the top in this live performance, her whistle chorus is outstanding. My favorite aspect of this performance had to be the live band, specifically the trumpet. It made the experience even better than imagined. The live band taking the show away adds a whole new narrative to this song.
2. “pov”
This song beautifully shows off Grande’s singing technique. She sings this vocally demanding song with absolute ease, it isn’t until the end that she sounds like she’s almost out of breath. If anyone ever questioned Grande’s musiciality, I’d tell them to watch this video.
1. “Positions”
The album’s title track is my absolute favorite out of the songs performed with Vevo. It’s so cool to watch her begin the performance by recording her own backtrack. Even though this portion of the performance takes up time in the beginning, it’s a rewarding experience to watch her sing overtop of the final product. Grande’s mixing, plus her band, and vocals makes “positions” the best of the live performances.
