‘We Are Family’ Criticized for ‘Uncultured’ Guesses During Latest Episode

During this week’s new episode of We Are Family on FOX, celebrities Debbie Gibson, Tiffany Haddish, and Tamar Braxton were revealed as the mystery relatives of three performers. Fans on social media criticized the audience members’ “uncultured” guesses about their identities.
We Are Family Episode Criticized on Social Media
The premise of We Are Family is that non-famous relatives of celebrities perform for the audience and sing a duet with their famous family member, who is hidden. The audience is tasked with trying to figure out who the performer is related to.
The audience guesses on this week’s episode had some users on X (formerly Twitter) expressing their disappointment. As one user wrote, We Are Family “would be a good show, if yall would stop choosing all these uncultured swines…”
“Man, these guesses are off, it’s Debbie Gibson,” wrote another user about the audience’s speculation. “Voice is too easy to recognize.”
Guesses from the audience about Gibson’s identity included Cyndi Lauper and Dolly Parton. Gibson performed with her nephew Nick on the show. She previously competed as Night Owl on Season 9 of The Masked Singer.

We Are Family has aired four episodes so far this season. In the first episode, the performers were revealed to be related to Michelle Williams, Joel McHale, and Nikki Glaser. Other reveals have included JoJo Siwa, Carnie Wilson, and Cam Newton.
In the most recent episode before the one that aired on Wednesday night, Candace Cameron Bure and Jay Pharoah were revealed to be the famous family members, along with American Idol Season 10 runner-up Lauren Alaina.
