We All Have Mariah Carey to Thank for James Corden’s ‘Carpool Karaoke’

Late night, talk show host James Corden let the world know that we owe Mariah Carey big time. On Wednesday night’s show, Cordon thanked Carey for being the first star to appear on his Carpool Karaoke segment in 2015. Since its launch, the success of that segment has been unparalleled.
I for one think that everyone should wake up and say thank you to the legendary Mariah Carey. The former American Idol judge has had 19 number one singles. She is the supreme diva, the Queen of Christmas. For Corden, Carey’s appearance on Carpool Karaoke was so well-received, stars were driving into his studio just to participate in the segment.
During last night’s interview, Carey mentions to Corden that she has not been anywhere in two years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. She was on the show to celebrate Cordon’s 1,000th episode:
“I love you. You are such a good person,” Carey beamed with smiles.
In true Mariah fashion, before the interview began, she checked out her position on the couch, the camera angles, and the lighting. Corden even asked if he should sit on the couch with her.
“Is this the monitor?” Carey asked. “I usually control all my own things.”

Carey dazzled in a blinged out gold gown and heels to match. She was escorted by a body guard who helped her float toward Corden. The Queen of Christmas began the interview by wishing the audience a Merry Christmas before directing Corden to take a “Faux Candid” with her. What is that you ask? Just an action shot of the two fake smiling.
“Can I tell you something?” Corden asked Carey. “And I mean it from the bottom of my heart. I don’t think any of us would be sitting here, or Carpool Karaoke if it wasn’t for you saying yes, before the show was aired.”
When asked why she agreed to do it. Carey mentioned that she just thought it would be fun.
“I remember having fun with you. I remember being yet again insecure, not knowing what this was. I remember after doing it, so many stars started doing it.” Carey said. You may have missed it, but that was Mariah shading other stars for not recognizing that she sets the standard.
The two had fun when the host asked about the new Mariah Carey menu at McDonald’s. He teases her and asks when was the last time she went to a drive-thru and suggested they do a walk-thru. Corden gets up and starts imitating Carey walking in her dress and she throws her shoe at him.
“You try walking in this Sh*t!” she jokes.
