Katy Perry has finally released her new song “Woman’s World,” which she’s been teasing on social media for quite some time. The track came with an over-the-top music video that is dividing fans and drawing criticism.
Katy Perry Releases Music Video for New Song ‘Woman’s World’
The music video starts with Perry and her female backup dancers dressed in skimpy construction worker outfits. Perry drinks whiskey, stands at a urinal, and eventually removes her vest to reveal a sparkly bikini top with an American flag design.
“It’s a woman’s world, and you’re lucky to be living in it,” Perry sings on the track’s chorus. “You better celebrate / ‘Cause, baby, we ain’t going away.”
As she continues to dance, Perry is eventually crushed by an anvil. The video then cuts to her lying flattened on the road and blowing herself back up. She continues the song in a new outfit — featuring some robotic legs and an even skimpier bikini.
After a chaotic cameo from online personality Trisha Paytas, Perry breaks into a house, steals a woman’s TikTok equipment, and then flies away on a helicopter while shouting, “I’m Katy Perry!”

Perry Is Receiving Backlash Over the Video
Although some Perry fans are sharing their enthusiasm for the song and video, there are a lot of people online who take issue with Perry’s new project. The YouTube comments on the “Woman’s World” music video include several criticisms.
“Not every song needs to have a message. But if you pretend to have a message at least have a message,” wrote one user. Another user commented that although Perry “looks amazing,” the singer is “not really helping women with this one.”
Another user said they thought the first part of the video “was satire,” but then they “realized the entire plot was for the male gaze and she just slapped ‘Woman’s World’ on it to pander.”
What do you think of Perry’s new song and music video? Are the criticisms valid? Will you be listening to her new album 143 when it’s released on September 20? Let us know in the comments below.
