‘Voice’ Star Jej Vinson’s Collab With American-Filipino Group The Filharmonic Is Electrifying
Jej himself is a Filipino immigrant who made a splash on The Voice in Season 16, earning a four-chair turn in his blind audition. Jej loves a cappella, which he performs with USC group the SoCal VoCals.
Jej Vinson Performs With The Filharmonic
As you might have guessed from their name, The Filharmonic is an a cappella group made up of Filipino-American singers. They regularly post covers of popular songs on their YouTube and Instagram pages.
For the group’s latest performance, they were joined by Jej on a cover of “Talk” by Khalid, featuring Disclosure. Jej took the lead, showing off his impressive voice while The Filharmonic backed him up.
Jej shared the video on his Instagram page, thanking the group for having him and writing, “Always a blast w/ the homies. Hope you guys enjoy this as much as we did singing it.”
John Legend & The Filharmonic
The wider public got to know The Filharmonic better when they appeared on The Late Late Show With James Gorden in a singing Riff-Off with John Legend. The video featured a cappella versions of ‘Sucker’ by Jonas Brothers, ‘bad guy’ by Billie Eilish, ‘Someone You Loved’ by Lewis Capaldi, ‘I Swear’ by All-4-One, and John Legend’s hit ‘All of Me.’
That is not to say Team Kelly’s Jej Vinson was not supported by Kelly Clarkson herself after The Voice ended. He went on tour with the coach and even performed duets with her.
What Has Jej Been Up To?
Since leaving The Voice, Jej has released several singles. He’s also featured on an album from California high school student Kevin Lu called Lovers Lane. Last year, he had the opportunity to perform with Filipino singer Morissette, something he’s always wanted.
Jej recently tweeted that he’s excited to “get my butt back in the studio,” adding, “I’m ready for new music and I know you guys are too.” We can’t wait to hear what he comes up with. In the meantime, we’ll be watching his Filharmonic collaboration again.
