Dancing with the Stars pro Val Chmerkovskiy showed his support for former partner Laurie Hernandez over the weekend, and he brought his current partner Olivia Jade along with him.

Hernandez is currently appearing on the Gold Over America tour, starring Simone Biles and a collection of other gymnasts. She and Olivia Jade got to meet backstage at the event.

“Went to support my beautiful little big star,” Chmerkovskiy wrote on Instagram to accompany a series of photos from the Gold Over America event. In the first, he’s about to give Hernandez a kiss on the cheek as she smiles for the camera.

The pro dancer joked that he taught Olivia a “backflip handspring into a reverse reverse two hops this time” move to incorporate into a future dance. More photos from the set show his two partners meeting and hugging. He also shared an incredible video from the event.

“The best part was to see how happy all the little girls in the crowd were seeing their favorite gymnasts out there,” Chmerkovskiy wrote to accompany the post. “They got 30 more shows and they’re coming to a city near you!”

Hernandez also posted photos with her former partner from the event, writing that the “best part of the LA show was seeing the big bro again.” She wished him luck this season on Dancing with the Stars.

Laurie Hernandez Won Season 23 of ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Hernandez is a gymnast who was part of the gold-medal-winning “Final Five” during the 2016 Summer Olympics, along with Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Madison Kocian, and Aly Raisman. Later that same year, she competed on Season 23 of Dancing with the Stars.

She and her partner Chmerkovskiy ended up winning the season. At just 16 years old, Hernandez became the youngest champion in the show’s history. It was Chmerkovskiy’s second time winning, after coming in first place with Rumer Willis in Season 20.

He and Olivia Jade received positive feedback from the judges after their first dance of the season last week, a salsa to Lizzo’s “Juice.” They earned a score of 25 out of 40.
