Dancing With the Stars fan favorite Val Chmerkovskiy has officially re-entered the competition. After sitting last week out due to a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, Chmerkovskiy has returned to the studio to rehearse with partner Gabby Windey.
Val Chmerkovskiy to Compete on Dancing With the Stars ’90s Night
Fans were shocked last week when Gabby Windey took the Dancing With the Stars ballroom with pro Alan Bersten. For those who may have missed the announcement, the show shared via Twitter that Val would sit out a week of the competition on October 28.
“Sending well wishes for a fast recovery to Val Chmerkovskiy,” DWTS shared via Twitter on October 28. “He has tested positive for COVID and will not be performing in Monday’s #HalloweenNight episode. Alan Bersten will be stepping in to accompany Gabby Windey.”
Although Gabby and Alan scored a 38 out of 40 points, fans look forward to seeing The Bachelorette dance with her season partner once again. At this point in the competition, health is crucial since one “bad” dance could place a pair in the bottom two of the night.
On November 4, DWTS confirmed via Instagram that Val has returned to rehearsal. Fans are thrilled to hear this news.
“HE’S BACK! Very happy to say that Val Chmerkovskiy is healthy and has returned to rehearsals. He will be in the #DWTS ballroom Monday with Gabby Windey for #90sNight,” DWTS published on Instagram.
Val has yet to share any news about his return to the ballroom/COVID-19 diagnosis. It’s completely possible that the professional dancer had minor symptoms, just like Daniella Karagach earlier this season. Due to social media activity, fans believe that Val’s pregnant wife, Jenna Johnson, was not affected by his diagnosis.
They Will Perform 2 Dances This Week
Gabby and Val are hard at work in rehearsal for the upcoming episode of Dancing With the Stars. This week, they will be performing a Samba to “Livin’ La Vida Loca” by Ricky Martin. Although this pair hasn’t studied this style yet, fans are sure they’ll be able to pull something together before Monday.
In addition to their normal partner dance, they will be competing in the Relay Dances against Charli D’Amelio and Mark Ballas. The pairs will be dancing the Salsa to “Ain’t Gonna Hurt Nobody” by Kid ‘N Play. The winner of the head to head battle will win an additional five points to their nightly score.
Dancing With the Stars airs its ninth episode, ’90s Night on Monday, November 7 at 8 p.m. ET.
