‘The X Factor UK’ Contestants Descendance Cause Controversy
Syco / Thames / ITV On Saturday’s episode of The X Factor UK we saw a very uncomfortable exchange between the judges and mother/daughter singing duo Descendance. The judges thought that daughter Hayley has the makings of a superstar. Mother Debye…not so much. The judges suggested that Debye step aside. Many of the fans agree.

When you watch this video it becomes apparent that Hayley is the real talent of the two. It maybe hard for Debye to accept that but it’s the truth. Even though they got four yeses, they were super tentative. Hayley refuses to perform without her mom. This could cost her. I know the judges, Simon in particular, are going to press the issue. Many fans agree with the judges and took to social media to vent their opinion. Some of the Tweets include,
‘I think the mum is pretty selfish. I would rather my child went on and could possibly win above me being involved.’
‘The mum is trying to live off her daughter’s fame! Show mum!! She’s selfish if she doesn’t let her daughter do it on her own.’
‘Well that was a tad selfish and very awkward to watch. I hope her mum doesn’t hold Hayley back.’
‘The mum is being very selfish, she’s not good enough, she’s holding her daughter back.’
‘Seriously, mum. Let her go solo. She could go far on her own and she definitely won’t go far in a pair.’
‘That mum needs to think hard on this decision and let her daughter go though. Her daughter is [the] star.’
But Hayley is in a tight spot. How do you tell your mom that she’s out of the band? It is up to Debye to step aside and not hurt her daughter’s chances on the show. We’ll see what she does.
