Jordan Smith is hoping to pull off another championship win. This time the Season 9 The Voice winner is heading to new show American Song Contest. Jordan will represent Kentucky when the competition show airs this March on NBC.

The Team Adam alum will be showcasing his powerful voice on the American version of Eurovision. American Song Contest includes each of the 50 states, five territories and Washington D.C. Each location will have one artist participating. These artists can be solo, a duo, bands, or a DJ. Each artist will perform an original song throughout every round of the competition. The winner is determined from fan votes and a jury of music industry professionals.

Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg will host the upcoming show that will premiere on March 21. Fans can expect to learn more about each contestant representing their state in the ultimate singing competition.

Jordan is no stranger to overcoming the pressure that comes along with these competitions. The singer received a four-chair turn during The Voice’s Blind Auditions. He sang “Chandelier” by Sia and amassed over 15 million views on Youtube within 24 hours. Coach Gwen Stefani ran on stage after his performance and called him “amazing.”

Before dominating his season Jordan began singing in the church as a young child. Both of his parents are musicians and he grew up learning from them. The singer lived a quiet life before taking a chance by auditioning. The first time he auditioned he was rejected, but Jordan tried again the following year.

Other American Song Contest competitors will face stiff competition from the Kentucky native. Jordan comes with a fanbase. During his time on The Voice he was the show’s first artist of the season to reach number one on the pop songs chart on iTunes.

Jordan Smith’s Music Journey

After his time on The Voice, Jordan continued to rack up accolades. The singer did not focus on pop music and turned his attention to the world of gospel music.

Jordan made history on Billboard’s Christian Songs chart when he became the first artist ever to hold the top two positions concurrently with his cover of “Mary, Did You Know?” and “Hallelujah.” Jordan’s rendition of “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” occupied the number eight spot at the same time, making him only the third artist ever to chart three songs in the top 10 simultaneously.

Jordan has been keeping a low profile until now. He has been performing locally while he enjoys married life. The singer tied the knot to blogger Kristen Smith.

The singer’s last big year was in 2018. Jordan released his third studio album Only Love. His career grew once it was announced that he wrote Celine Dion’s hit song “Ashes.” The single appeared on the Deadpool 2 soundtrack and has been viewed over 100 million times on YouTube. The song was at one point considered a frontrunner for Best Original Song during the 2018 Oscar season.
