The Voice contestant Joshua Vacanti may have been eliminated from Season 21 last week, but he got a pretty cool consolation prize when he appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform and chat with the host. Joshua shared what a huge fan he is of DeGeneres.
Joshua Vacanti Performs on ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’
“What a way to leave The Voice and come right onto The Ellen Show,” Joshua said at the start of his interview with DeGeneres. “I am obsessed with you. You are so beautiful right now, I can’t even look at you … I grew up watching your show.”
He went on to gush about his coach John Legend, calling him “the coolest human to walk this earth” and describing himself as “the exact opposite of that.” Joshua said Legend “created such a safe place for me to grow on the show.”
Joshua also shared that music helped him growing up, as he felt like he could be himself as he dealt with bullying from his peers. He used to work as a prevention educator for a nonprofit, so he was able to be “the person that I wish I had when I was younger.”
After his interview with DeGeneres, Joshua took the stage to sing “Falling” by Harry Styles. He previously performed the song in the Knockouts against fellow Team Legend singer Sabrina Dias. Their coach chose to keep Joshua on his team for the live shows.
Joshua showed off his signature theatrical, emotional voice during the performance. Although he didn’t make it through to the Top 5 for this week’s finale, getting to perform on The Ellen DeGeneres Show is still an amazing opportunity.
Not to mention, Celine Dion recently tweeted Joshua’s cover of her song “Ashes” in the Semifinals. The coaches on The Voicehave also said they would love to see him on Broadway, so we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds for him.
