The Voice Coaches Use Playoff Passes in the Battles

The Season 25 Battles kicked off Monday night with a performance of Adele’s “Rolling in the Deep” by Team Legend artists Bryan Olesen and Nathan Chester. The coaches were blown away by the Battle, and they had a hard time deciding who the winner should be.

Ultimately, coach John Legend chose Nathan as the winner. Thinking Bryan was in danger of elimination, both Reba McEntire and Dan + Shay hit their buttons to steal him. Little did they know, Legend was planning to use his playoff pass on the singer, sending him straight to the Playoffs on his team.

During Monday’s show, McEntire also used her playoff pass to keep singer L. Rodgers on her team after a Battle against Tae Lewis to the song “We Don’t Fight Anymore” by Carly Pearce and Chris Stapleton. Reba chose Tae to move on to the Knockouts and sent L. straight to the playoffs, blocking Chance the Rapper’s attempt at a steal.

On Tuesday night, Chance used his own playoff pass to keep singer Nadège on his team, blocking steals from both Legend and Dan + Shay. She went up against Maddi Jane in a Battle to “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” Maddi will go to the Knockouts, while Nadège will go straight to the Playoffs.

Chance the Rapper, Reba McEntire Steal Artists

In addition to the playoff pass, the coaches also each have one steal available to them, which allows them to take a non-winning artist from another coach’s team during the Battles. This week, both Chance the Rapper and Reba McEntire used theirs.

On Monday night, Team Reba artists Alyssa Crosby and Asher HaVon performed “We Don’t Need Another Hero” by Tina Turner for a chance to go to the Knockouts. McEntire chose Asher as the winner of the Battle, but Chance the Rapper stepped in to steal Alyssa for his own team.

Then on Tuesday, duo Justin and Jeremy Garcia went up against Frank Garcia on Dan + Shay’s team. They sang “Million Reasons” by Lady Gaga. The coaches ended up choosing Frank as the winner of the Battle, but McEntire hit her steal button to add Justin and Jeremy to her team.
