Jordan Smith’s ‘The Voice’ Journey

Jordan Smith auditioned for The Voice with a performance of Sia’s “Chandelier.” The show refrained from even showing the viewers what he looked like until the first coach turned around.

Jordan ended up turning all four coaches’ chairs. No one was more shocked than Gwen Stefani, who kicked up her leg in surprise when she saw him. Jordan has a higher-pitched voice, making it easy to mistake him for a woman.

“I think you’re the most important person that’s ever been on this show,” Adam Levine told him. He ended up joining Adam’s team, and won the competition after performing songs by Adele, Sam Smith, Queen, and more.

“On the show, they really highlighted the fact that I don’t look like I sound, which is OK with me,” Jordan told local news, “because that’s the message that I want to get across: that it’s okay to be different than people expect you to be and not fit the mold.”

In March, Jordan hinted on Instagram that he was working on new music. “Writing the next chapter of this crazy story has been a beautiful journey,” he wrote, alongside a photo of himself in the studio. “I can’t wait to share that beauty with all of you.
