‘The Masked Singer’ Winner LeAnn Rimes, Then and Now

Before LeAnn Rimes won Season 4 of The Masked Singer as Sun in 2020, she got her start as a country music star. Rimes has since performed in other genres and even pursued an acting career. Let’s take a look back at her time in the spotlight, as well as what she’s been up to recently.
LeAnn Rimes Became a Country Star at Age 13
As a kid, Rimes appeared on the TV talent show Star Search and began pursuing a career in country music. She was eventually discovered by Bill Mack, who helped Rimes reach the spotlight with a cover of his song “Blue.” It first appeared on her second studio album All That in 1994.
Rimes ended up signing a record deal with Curb Records and rerecorded “Blue” as a single. However, it was the earlier version of the song, sung as an 11-year-old, that was mistakenly released and became a hit. In 1996, Rimes released her third album, also called Blue. It debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
In 1997, Rimes became the youngest person to win a Grammy. She received awards for Best New Artist and Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Over the years, Rimes went on to experiment with more of a pop sound, including the 2000 hit “Can’t Fight the Moonlight.”

Rimes Won ‘The Masked Singer’ as Sun
In 2020, Rimes competed on The Masked Singer Season 4 as Sun. Throughout the competition, she performed songs including “Cuz I Love You” by Lizzo and “When the Party’s Over” by Billie Eilish. Judges Jenny McCarthy and Nicole Scherzinger correctly guessed her identity before she was unmasked.
So far, Rimes has released 17 studio albums before the age of 40. That includes Christmas albums, as well as 2020’s Chant: The Human & the Holy, which featured chants and mantras from the singer. Rimes has also pursued acting, appearing in projects such as the Hallmark movie It’s Christmas, Eve and the TV series Anger Management.
The singer has been married to actor Eddie Cibrian since 2011. They starred together in the 2009 Lifetime movie Northern Lights and made headlines for engaging in an extramarital affair. In 2014, the couple appeared in the reality show LeAnn & Eddie on VH1. Although they have no children together, Rimes is stepmother to Cibrian’s two sons from his marriage to Brandi Glanville.
Rimes is currently on a tour called “the story… so far.” She also plans to release a new album called god’s work on September 16. Rimes has released several singles since her last album, including “Throw My Arms Around the World” and “how much a heart can hold.”
