Zhavia Leaves Columbia Records, Goes Independent
Over the weekend, Zhavia took to Twitter to reply to a fan’s post from April asking, “where’s the album, it’s been like 4 years.” She responded, “Had to get out of some contracts, I’m independent now so I can do whatever I want like drop a song this summer.”
The singer has actually been teasing new music since earlier this year. In May, she posted a selfie and wrote, “My first album is gunna be insane.” Then in June, Zhavia tweeted, “Writing a music video treatment for my new song.”
Zhavia signed a record deal with Columbia Records in 2018, after reaching the Finals on the FOX talent show The Four: Battle for Stardom. In 2019, the singer released an EP called 17. She’s also released several singles and even performed a duet of “A Whole New World” with Zayn for the live-action Aladdin movie.
However, Zhavia has yet to release her debut album more than five years after rising to fame. It looks like 2023 could be the year fans finally get to hear it.

Zhavia hasn’t uploaded any new videos to her YouTube channel since last year. Past singles released by the singer include “Big Girl$ Don’t Cry” and “Waiting.” Back in January, the singer teased that this would be a big year for her, tweeting, “NEW YEAR NEW MUSIC BITCHES.”
