Dancing with the Stars Season 30 returns on Monday for Queen Night, as the remaining nine couples dance to songs by the iconic rock band. This episode will also feature the return of the Relay Dances, as the contestants compete for bonus points from the judges.

What Are Relay Dances on ‘Dancing with the Stars’?

Relays were first introduced to Dancing with the Stars in Season 9, and they’ve been included on and off over the years, including last season. The Relays are returning for Queen Night, giving the remaining couples an opportunity to boost their judges’ scores.

The couples will be split into three groups. Each group will be challenged to perform the same style of dance to the same song. The judges will choose a winner out of each group, to be rewarded with extra points added to their total score for the night.

This week’s Relays will focus on the Jive, the Foxtrot, and the Viennese Waltz. In keeping with the night’s theme, each group will dance to the same Queen song. Voting will be open during the show, and audience votes will be combined with the judges’ scores to determine who goes home.
