The annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is right around the corner, drawing millions of eyes to watch the festivities on TV and thousands of people to the streets of New York City to catch a glimpse of the spectacle live. Celebrating its 97th year, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is sure to entertain with the return of fantastical floats, star-studded performances, and larger-than-life balloons throughout the route until it concludes on Manhattan’s famed 34th street.
Who Is Performing in The 2023 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade?
The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade invites some of music’s biggest names to perform several songs and holiday hits each year. Last year’s lineup didn’t disappoint, with memorable numbers by Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul, and Jimmy Fallon and The Roots.
This year, the parade has another star-studded lineup—with Cher as a headlining act. Joining the “Goddess of Pop” in the festivities are Grammy-winner Jon Batiste, Brandy, Bell Biv DeVoe, Chicago, En Vogue, ENHYPEN, and David Foster and Katharine McPhee.
Drew Holcomb and The Neighbors, Jessie James Decker, Ashley Park with the cast and Muppets of Sesame Street, Pentatonix, Paul Russell, Grace Stanke, Amanda Shaw, Alex Smith, and Manuel Turizo will also take to the streets of New York City There will also be appearances by U.S. Olympic silver medalist Jordan Chiles and U.S. Paralympic gold medalist Jessica Long.
In addition to the singers and bands who dazzle down the streets on floats, Broadway’s finest also deliver show-stopping performances during the broadcast. This year, Broadway will be represented by & Juliet, Back to the Future: The Musical, How To Dance In Ohio, Shucked, and Spamalot, with an appearance by Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells of Gutenberg! The Musical!
The 2023 Parade Will Have New Additions
This year’s parade includes 28 floats, with three completely new additions: Solo Stove’s Igniting Memories float, Brach’s Palace of Sweets float, and Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Deliciously Delectable World of Wonka float.
This year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will also feature three new balloons: Beagle Scout Snoopy, Blue Cat & Chugs, and Monkey D. Luffy. Snoopy celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Beagle Scouts’ first appearance. Blue Cat & Chugs makes its debut, becoming the first-ever NFT character balloon, and Monkey D. Luffy, from One Piece, stands 50 feet tall, painted with over 20 different colors and is also ready to ascend on Thanksgiving Day.
Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade takes place on Thursday, November 23, 2023, at exactly 8:30 a.m. While anyone can head to New York City to watch the festivities live, the parade is also scheduled to air on NBC and Peacock from 9 a.m. to noon in all time zones.
