‘Star Search’ Recap: Who Made It Through the Second Night of Competition?

Netflix’s Star Search reboot returned on Wednesday night for the second episode of the season. Eight more new acts took the stage in four different categories, as they performed for their chance to move on in the competition.

Eight New Acts Performed on Star Search Night 2

Eight more performers took the stage during Wednesday’s Star Search episode, paired up in four different categories. The judges (Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jelly Roll, and Chrissy Teigen) and viewers at home rated each performance from one to five stars to determine which acts should move on and get one step closer to winning the $500,000 grand prize.

The first round of Wednesday’s new episode was the Juniors Variety category. First up, dance troupe The Force showed off some acrobatic moves to “Golden” from KPop Demon Hunters. After that, young magician Harry Merlin Piper performed an impressive disappearing act. Harry was named the winner of the round, with a combined score of 4.3 stars.

Next up was the Comedy category. First to perform was Susan Rice, who joked about dating as she gets older. After that, musical comedian JR De Guzman performed a funny song about disagreements between couples. Ultimately, JR won the round, with a combined score of 3.4 stars.

Who Else Won Their Rounds?

Wednesday’s episode also featured a Variety category. First up, acrobatic pair Duo Vespertilio performed a dangerous aerial act to “Bad to the Bone” by 2WEI and Bri Bryant. After that, dog act Macy and Tempo delivered an adorable dance routine set to  “I Love Me” by Meghan Trainor. Duo Vespertilio ended up winning the round with a combined score of 4 stars.

The final round of the episode was the Music Solo category. First to perform was Issy, who belted out “Greedy” by Tate McRae and showed off some dance moves. Next up, Bear Bailey sang “Hard Fought Hallelujah” by Brandon Lake and Star Search judge Jelly Roll, who was brought to tears by the performance. Bear won the round with a combined score of 4.6 stars.

Star Search will return live next Tuesday and Wednesday on Netflix at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. The acts who made it through the first week of the competition will go up against a new crop of challengers in next week’s shows.
