AGT judge Sofia Vergara unfortunately missed the 2025 Emmys on Sunday night. The actress was supposed to be a presenter at the event, but she posted on Instagram that she had to skip the ceremony due to an apparent allergic reaction that affected her eye.
Sofia Vergara Misses 2025 Emmys Due to Eye Allergy
On Sunday night, Vergara took to Instagram to post a photo of herself in which her left eye appears swollen. She also included a video in which she can be seen lying in what appears to be the hospital, with her eyes closed. In another clip, she rinses her eyes with water.
“Didnt make it to the Emmys but made it to the ER,” Vergara wrote in the post’s caption, apologizing for her absence. She explained that she experienced the “craziest eye allergy right before getting in the car” on Sunday.
Fans and friends alike shared their sympathy for Vergara in the comments. America’s Got Talent host Terry Crews wrote, “Oh no! Get well soon!” Justin Mikita, husband of Vergara’s Modern Family co-star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, wrote, “What happeneddddd.”

Will Vergara Appear on AGT This Week?
Since Vergara was unable to attend the Emmys on Sunday night, it’s natural to wonder if she will be on this week’s episodes of America’s Got Talent. The show will go live on Tuesday and Wednesday for another round of Quarterfinals performances and results.
As of this writing, Vergara has not shared an update about her condition after visiting the ER on Sunday. It’s possible that she’ll be well enough by Tuesday to attend the taping, but we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
Fortunately, Vergara has already pressed her Golden Buzzer in the Quarterfinals. During the very first live show of Season 20, she did the honors for country singer Steve Ray Ladson.
