America’s Got Talent Season 19 returned on Tuesday night for another round of auditions. During the show, judge Sofia Vergara hit a totally unexpected Golden Buzzer for an unusual act that made her laugh.
Sofia Vergara Hits AGT Golden Buzzer for Schumacher
This season, each of the judges gets to hit the Golden Buzzer for two different acts. At the start of Tuesday’s show, all of the judges had hit both of their Golden Buzzers except for Sofia Vergara. We never would have expected that she’d hit it for Japanese comedy duo Schumacher.
The members of the act are Ryu and Yuya. They currently have over 250,000 subscribers on YouTube and over 25,000 followers on TikTok, where they post funny videos in which they transform themselves into animals using simple tricks.
For their AGT audition, they used various masks to make themselves look like a dog, a zebra, a unicorn, and a giraffe. They had the audience and judges cracking up. Simon Cowell called them “really funny,” while Vergara wondered about the act, “What is it?”
She said she was “very confused” and “thought it was ridiculous.” But she didn’t mean it in a bad way, because she ended up hitting the Golden Buzzer to send Schumacher straight to the live shows. This is definitely one of the most surprising Golden Buzzers in the history of the show.
It technically wasn’t the first Golden Buzzer of the episode, since Australian comedian Reuben Solo hit it for himself during his own audition, which earned four “no” votes from the judges. Needless to say, that Golden Buzzer didn’t count.

Singer Gets a Second Chance to Audition
Another notable audition (or rather, auditions) from Tuesday’s show came from Cuban singer Dian Rene. He planned to sing “Waiting for Tonight” by Jennifer Lopez in Spanish, but was told that the Spanish lyrics “didn’t clear.” So he had to learn the song in English one day before his audition.
Cowell ended up stopping Dian mid-performance to suggest that he should audition again later. The judge said it wasn’t fair that Dian couldn’t perform in Spanish. He recommended that Dian should learn another song that he was more comfortable performing.
Diane returned at a later time to perform the Spanish-language song “Pégate” by Ricky Martin. He showed off a great voice and a charismatic stage presence that had Vergara up and dancing. Cowell remarked that he seemed like a “different person.”
Heidi Klum told him that he “got the party started” with his performance, while Howie Mandel said that he was “a joy to watch.” All four judges voted “yes” to sending Dian through.
