The Voice has released a new early release audition from Season 23, featuring singer Cait Martin’s unique take on Harry Styles’ hit song “As It Was.” Cait turned all four chairs for the performance and had the coaches fighting over her.

Cait Martin Turns Four Chairs in The Voice Early Release

Kelly Clarkson was the first coach to turn around for Cait’s performance, less than 10 seconds in. The singer put her own spin on Styles’ song, showing off an impressive vocal range and going from soft to powerful.

Styles’ former One Direction bandmate Niall Horan was the second coach to turn his chair. Eventually, both Chance the Rapper and Blake Shelton joined them, making Cait a four-chair turn. Toward the end of the performance, Clarkson could be seen wiping away tears as she listened to Cait sing.

The singer’s mom was watching from backstage, and she shouted Clarkson’s name. The coach was thrilled, telling Cait, “You know what they say. You should always listen to your parents.”

What Did the Coaches Think of Cait’s Performance?

Clarkson praised Cait’s “beautiful vibrato.” She added that she didn’t realize how big the singer’s range was, saying, “That was high, and you did it so effortlessly.” The coach also pointed out that Cait’s red hair matches her Team Kelly jackets.

Meanwhile, Shelton pointed out that Season 23 will be his last on the show, telling Cait, “I would love to go out with a win on this thing. And I think that I can dig down deep and somehow find the energy and the passion one more time to win The Voice. It would be awesome if you would be on the last Team Blake.”

Horan responded by saying it’s “time to pass the baton over.” He told Cait that she “kept so much control in the highest parts.” Chance the Rapper also chimed in to compare Cait’s voice to Whitney Houston, telling her, “If you wanna win, you should ride with me.”

We’ll have to wait until the new episode airs Monday night at 8/7c on NBC to find out which team Cait chose to join.
