Reading Time: 2 minutes
Olympic gymnast and former Dancing With The Stars celebrity, Simone Biles took to social media this week to directly address ongoing speculation from fans that she is currently pregnant. The record-setting athlete made it clear that she is not pregnant right now as she continues training for a potential Paris 2024 bid.
Simone Biles Shuts Down Pregnancy Rumors
Speculation around Biles being pregnant took off after she posted a photo on Instagram of herself cheering on her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, during a Monday Night Football game earlier this week.
Some followers felt the photo hinted Biles was concealing a pregnancy. One comment read the picture was “sending baby vibes” while another fan directly asked if the newlywed was expecting.
However, Biles took to her Instagram Stories the next day to definitively shut the pregnancy rumors down.
“I hate that I even have to address this, but please stop commenting on this photo or my Instagram in general about me being ‘pregnant,'” she wrote. “I’m not pregnant.”
When Biles and Owens got engaged last year, she did mention wanting two children someday while he hopes for a “football team” sized family. At the moment, Biles channels focus on preparing for a potential comeback at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The speculation clearly struck a nerve with Biles, who said she should not have to confirm or deny private information about family planning. Some fans came to her defense, with one comment Biles liked reading it’s “incredibly rude to assume a woman is pregnant without her mentioning it.”
Simone Biles Calls Return to Gymnastics a “Blessing”
After sitting out competition for over two years following the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, Biles made a celebrated return to the world stage by winning gold in the All-Around at the 2022 World Championships this October.
In an interview, Biles said she never imagined she would compete again after struggling with mental health issues and the “twisties” in Tokyo.
“It honestly feels amazing to return to competition, I never thought I would compete again so this is a blessing,” she said. “My favorite moment has been competing alongside my WCC teammates.”
The gymnast made history again this year when her renowned Yurchenko double pike vault was officially named the “Biles II” after she successfully completed the death-defying skill.
Biles has a close partnership with athletic brand Athleta, whom she collaborated with on a holiday campaign focused on being present with family – the best gift she wants this Christmas.
Between training, competitions, and continually advancing the sport of gymnastics, Biles also relishes downtime at home with her husband and dogs. She plans on prioritizing self-care and wellness this holiday season.
