Simon Cowell’s Company Simco Lost Money Last Year

Rex

There is no doubt that Simon Cowell is the emperor of talent competition shows. He not only launched American Idol back in the day but now sits on top of both the Got Talent and X Factor media empires. But it seems that while shows like America’s Got Talent are doing really well, that can’t be said for all of his properties around the world.

It is a mighty swath of countries he’s in. Much like the British Empire in the past, the sun doesn’t set on Simon Cowell’s kingdom. Got Talent is currently in 70 countries and The X Factor in another 50. Though, as stated before, America’s Got Talent did very well this year, some of those other shows in random places didn’t do so hot and he had a 6% dip in revenue. That may not seem like a significant decrease but if it keeps up he’s in big trouble.

One of the factors is probably the changing nature of the way that people consume media now. The days of an entire country gathering around a TV set at the time the show is on are over. People, (especially young people), are watching it online and downloading the songs or streaming them rather than buying CDs. It’s the way of the world. But I wouldn’t worry about Simon. He has something up his deep v-neck t0shirt sleeves.
