Simon Cowell may have gotten softer over the years, but he still makes it clear when he doesn’t like a performance. Take, for example, the couple who auditioned for BGT with a Frozen song in 2019.

Simon was so unimpressed with the audition, he ended up walking off the set. Check out their performance in the video below, and read on to find out what Simon had to say about it.

Simon Hates This ‘Frozen’ Audition

Married couple Katherine and Joe O’Malley auditioned for BGT a second time in 2019. They had tried out the previous year with a Beauty and the Beast performance. This time they went with Frozen.

Katherine arrived dressed as Elsa, complete with a blonde wig. Joe, meanwhile, was dressed as the reindeer Sven. Katherine sang “Let It Go,” while Joe danced. Simon hit his red buzzer soon after the performance began, while Alesha Dixon hit hers at the very end.

“I’m not being rude, but what the bloody hell was that?” Simon asked, prompting the audience to boo him. Meanwhile, Alesha said she didn’t buzz earlier because she thought Joe’s dancing was “amazing.”

“But Alesha, you’ve got to believe that the animal’s real,” Simon said, earning more boos. This prompted Amanda Holden to remind him of how important it is to listen to the audience.

Simon Cowell Walks Off And Lets The Audience Vote

The audience cheered for Katherine and Joe, effectively telling Simon that they wanted the couple to get through. So Simon agreed to let them be the ones to decide, announcing that he was going to step away from the desk.

“You know what, I’m gonna leave,” he said. “I’m gonna leave it up to you.” And then he walked off the set. The audience voted “yes” in his place, along with Amanda and David Walliams.

Katherine and Joe got through, although they didn’t make it to the live shows. They auditioned again the next year, with a performance themed to The Little Mermaid. This time, they made it all the way to the semifinals.

However, Simon wasn’t impressed with their third performance either, once again buzzing the act and calling it the worst of their auditions.
