Simon Cowell Hints at New Talent Show, is Searching for Boyband Members

Do you miss the days of One Direction, Little Mix, and/or Fifth Harmony? Don’t worry Simon Cowell may have something in the works for you. The talent show mogul recently hinted at plans to create a documentary with Box to Box about forming a boyband.
On June 4, Simon Cowell posted a video on Instagram, showing himself in front of a sign. The sign reads “Simon needs you, future megastars wanted for a new boyband.” Within the advertisement, Cowell urges anyone interested to check out his new website, simonneedsyou.com.
Upon visiting the website, fans see a photo of Cowell on a couch. With the text “Do you have what it takes to be in a Boyband? Are you a megastar in the making?”
When looking for additional details, the website becomes an application page for “an opportunity to get in front of Simon Cowell and audition to become a part of his next new boyband!”
The website explains that Cowell is throwing away the rulebook and doing it differently for the anticipated series. The entire process will be “shot for a potential documentary by Box to Box (a London based film company).”
Can I Apply for Simon Cowell’s Secret Project?
Applications are now open for this secret project. Cowell’s team is urging boys aged 16-18 to apply now. The team wants boys that “have a great singing voice, are happy being filmed for a potential television programme and would like the opportunity to be part of a boyband.”
Applicants must submit two videos singing acapella, without any backing tracks; two recent pictures of yourself; Proof of I.D. (passport, driving license, citizen card).
Eligibility requirements include, being aged 16-18 years old; not having any employment or connection to Box to Box, Distributor, Syco group of companies and not having any professional representation in the music industry (including recording and publishing deals). Applicants must be a legal resident and residing in the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, Scotland, Ireland, Wales, the Isle of Man, the EU or the U.S. Applicants under the age of 18 will need parent approval.
If you are in school between October 2024 and January 2025 will need permission from school to take part in filming (on a school day). Applicants auditioning on a school day will need to submit written permission from school or educational institution prior to attending the audition.
The final day for submissions is Wednesday, July 31, 2024. Selected applicants must be available for auditions in July 2024. Filming will begin October 2024 and wrap in January 2025.
