Simon Cowell Defends Ant McPartlin After Drunk Driving Controversy

If you watched last Saturday’s Britain’s Got Talent premiere you may have noticed that Ant McPartlin was on the show alongside his longtime partner Declan Donnelly. That’s because several episodes of BGT were taped before Ant’s arrest for drunk driving and his return to rehab. A lot of outraged fans have called for Ant to be fired. Simon Cowell does not agree.
Ant has been on the show for years and Simon thinks of him as a friend. Simon said,
“We’ve known each other a long time, and you stand by the people you work with over the years, for the obvious reasons. We always stand by our friends. We’re all human. The most important thing is he’s manned up, he’s going to get himself back together. And the show goes on, it’s as simple as that. This is happening to people all over the world. People, for whatever reason, they get into a rut and at times like this you stand by your mates. It’s always been that way.”
When asked if Ant would return next year Simon said,
“Of course. This is what happens.”
Well, there you have it. The king has spoken.
