Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden’s Kids Hit Golden Buzzer on ‘Britain’s Got Talent’

When it comes to Golden Buzzers, Britain’s Got Talent has thrown the rulebook out the window in recent seasons. According to a new report, the children of judges Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden hit the Golden Buzzer during auditions for the new season.
Judges’ Kids Hit Golden Buzzer on Britain’s Got Talent
Auditions for Series 17 wrapped up earlier this month. According to The Sun, one of this year’s coveted Golden Buzzers went to a Japanese act called Haribo. Except it wasn’t one of the show’s four judges or the hosts who did the honors.
Instead, Amanda Holden’s daughter Hollie and Simon Cowell’s son Eric were the ones to hit the Golden Buzzer after emerging from the audience. They sent Haribo straight through to the Semifinals. Holden and Cowell were apparently “in hysterics” over the moment.
“That was my son and Amanda’s daughter, egged on by the audience,” Cowell reportedly said. “It’s like father, like son and like mother, like daughter. More rules have been broken this year than any other year. This has never happened before – I might get fired.”

How Many Times Did They Hit the Buzzer This Year?
Last year, more BGT acts than usual received the Golden Buzzer, as the show played fast and loose with the rules. Not only did the show have its first group Golden Buzzer, but judges Bruno Tonioli and Simon Cowell hit it twice each.
According to The Sun, most of the judging panel hit the Golden Buzzer twice during this year’s auditions, on top of the one hit by Cowell and Holden’s children. In fact, three of those Golden Buzzers were apparently in the same day — from Tonioli, Holden, and Cowell.
“Three golden buzzers were pressed yesterday,” Holden shared on her radio show, according to The Mirror. “We’ve only just started, it was the first session! You have to go with your gut. I went with my gut and Bruno went with his gut. And it doesn’t matter what show it is.”
Tonioli was so enthusiastic about his chosen act that he actually broke the Golden Buzzer, as shown in a photo shared by Alesha Dixon on social media.
