Shakira Seems to Take More Digs at Ex Gerard Piqué on New Song

Former The Voice coach Shakira has released a new Spanish-language song called “TQG” with fellow Colombian singer Karol G. The new track has led to speculation that the singer is taking even more digs at her ex Gerard Piqué.
Shakira Releases New Song ‘TQG’ with Karol G
Spanish outlet MARCA suggests that several lyrics in “TQG” refer to Shakira’s split from her ex-boyfriend Gerard Piqué. Early in the song, Shakira sings, “Seeing you with the new one hurt me, but I’m already on my own, what we lived is forgotten and that’s what has offended you.”
She even sings, “What your girlfriend threw at me, that doesn’t even make me angry, I laugh.” The singer also emphasizes that she won’t “repeat the same error” and suggests that her ex wants her back, singing, “I already guessed it when you liked a picture of me.”
Shakira even seems to refer to last year’s song “Monotonia,” singing, “Looking for food somewhere else, saying it was monotony and now you want to go back.”
“TQG,” which was released on Friday, also features an accompanying music video starring Shakira and Karol G. The two singers perform in various settings, surrounded by ice and eventually fire. The video was directed by Pedro Artola.

The Singer Has Taken Digs at Piqué in Other Songs
“TQG” isn’t the first song Shakira has released since her split from Piqué that seems to take digs at the former soccer player. Just last month, she put out the song “BZRP Music Sessions #53,” a collaboration with Argentine DJ Bizarrap.
As Shakira sings on the track, “I’m too good for you and that’s why you’re with someone just like you.” She also tells the song’s subject, “I’m not getting back with you, don’t cry for me, nor beg me.”
Shakira and Piqué called it quits last year after 11 years together, amid rumors of a cheating scandal. The couple has two sons together, Sasha and Milan. Recently, Shakira was granted full custody of the kids.
