Scotty McCreery Releases New Song Inspired by His Wife
Reading Time: 2 minutes
American Idol winner Scotty McCreery finally released the single he has been teasing since last week. His song “Why You Gotta Be Like That,” is a romantic track inspired by his wife. This new release, along with his current single “You Time,” comes in anticipation of McCreery’s fifth studio album. Excited fans have been nudging the artist for more new music and he has finally delivered.
Last week, Scotty posted a 13 second teaser trailer for his “Why You Gotta Be Like That” video. At the time, fans were unsure of exactly what was to come from the country sensation, but what the people want, the people get.
The track was written alongside James McNair and Jordan Schmidt. The feel-good anthem was inspired by McCreery’s wife in a moment of unexpected romance. He and his wife had a date night on the evening he wrote the song. In the lyrics, he sings about getting caught off guard by his wife’s beauty in a casual moment.
“Baby why you gotta wear them jeans, hair down and a white tank top, baby why you gotta be so mean?, Looking so good, I can’t stop,” he sings. “My hands from touching your body, you know I love it but I got to ask, baby why, baby why, baby why you gotta be like that.”
McCreery’s Fifth Studio Album on the Horizon
McCreery’s latest single is the latest release from his fifth studio album. His new project, Same Truck was announced to release on September 17. The 12-track body of work takes is back to where it all began for the North Carolina native.
“This album for me, I’ve been looking over it and it’s kind of like going back to my roots a little bit,” McCreery told Katie Neal on Audacy’s Katie & Company. “It’s kind of who I am, talking about where I came from, my life, my beliefs, all that good stuff. So to me, it’s kind of a going back to my roots-type album.”
McCreery greatly appreciates how excited his fans are for all his upcoming music. Now as a 27-year-old, happily married man, he is able to share what he has learned and where he wants to go.
