American Idol host Ryan Seacrest recently received the Luminary Award from the Los Angeles Press Club. The star posted about the honor on his Instagram, along with photos from Sunday’s National Arts & Entertainment Journalism Awards Gala.

Ryan Seacrest Receives Luminary Award

In October of this year, the Los Angeles Press Club shared the news that Seacrest would be receiving the Luminary Award for Career Achievement. The award recognizes Seacrest’s many roles in the entertainment industry, as well as his charity work through the Ryan Seacrest Foundation.

“As someone with deep ties to the Los Angeles entertainment media world, it’s an honor to receive their Luminary Award,” Seacrest said in a statement. “The Los Angeles Press Club is one of the oldest and most prestigious organizations connected to the entertainment industry, and to join the list of iconic voices who have come before me is so meaningful.”

LA Press Club President Lisa Richwine said that Seacrest’s “passionate commitment to the entertainment business and his willingness to help others through his philanthropic work have served as an inspiration to so many people.”

Seacrest Called the Award an ‘Incredible Honor’

On Monday, Seacrest took to Instagram to thank the LA Press Club for the “incredible honor,” adding that it was “so meaningful to receive the Luminary Award.” The award was presented to him by Los Angeles radio personality Ellen K.

Seacrest shared a photo of himself posing with fellow honorees from the event, including TV producer Byron Allen (who received the Impact Award), filmmaker Jennifer Lee and singer Tanya Tucker (who received the Distinguished Storyteller Awards), and actress Marla Gibbs (who received the Legend Award).

Currently, Seacrest is filming Season 21 of American Idol, which will premiere February 19 on ABC. He’ll also be hosting this year’s edition of Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve, airing on ABC December 31.
