‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ ‘The Voice’ Nominated for Primetime Emmys

Blake Shelton on 'The Voice', RuPaul Charles on 'RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars 7'

The nominations for the 74th Primetime Emmys were announced on Tuesday, as both RuPaul’s Drag Race and The Voice were nominated in the Outstanding Competition Program category. RuPaul himself also earned a nomination.

RuPaul’s Drag Race, The Voice Nominated for Emmys

In the Outstanding Competition Program category, RuPaul’s Drag Race and The Voice are up against Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, Nailed It!, The Amazing Race, and Top Chef.

Both shows have won in the category four times each. However, Drag Race has won the past four years in a row, so The Voice has some tough competition. There’s also the chance one of the other shows will sneak up and win. The Amazing Race previously owned the category for many years, but it hasn’t won since 2014.

Meanwhile RuPaul has a nomination of his own in the Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program category. He happens to have won the award the past six years in a row. This year’s fellow nominees include Padma Lakshmi, Nicole Byer, the Queer Eye hosts, the Shark Tank hosts, and Nick Offerman and Amy Poehler.

RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked! is also nominated for Outstanding Unstructured Reality Program, and Drag Race‘s Nick Murray earned a nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Reality Program.
