Romance rumors have been swirling about Jennifer Hudson and Common since last year, but the two have kept their relationship private. Recently, however, they were spotted holding hands while attending an event in New York City.
Jennifer Hudson, Common Spotted Holding Hands
According to Entertainment Tonight, Hudson and Common attended a one-night-only performance at Joe’s Pub on Saturday night, honoring jazz singer Mikel Mwalimu-Banks. While walking in, the pair was photographed holding hands.
Rumors of a romance between the two stars began in the summer of 2022, when they were photographed having dinner together in Philadelphia. This was around the time they were filming a movie together called Breathe.
Later that year, Common was seen picking Hudson up from the set of her talk show. The actor and rapper had previously shown his support for the show’s premiere, writing on Instagram, “You looked amazing up there. So Pure. So True. And really really moving.”
In September of last year, Hudson seemed to brush off the dating rumors, saying about the photos of their dinner together, “We shot a film together and he played my husband. We gotta eat in between those moments.”

Hudson Says She’s ‘Very Happy’ in Her Relationship
Although she has yet to publicly confirm that she and Common are dating, Hudson recently hinted at her current relationship, saying she’s “very happy.” During an appearance on CBS Mornings, Gayle King asked the star about her love life.
“I am very happy, yes, ma’am,” Hudson said, according to ET. “Boo’ed up? I think it’s more sophisticated than boo’ed up… Definitely not an entanglement. That’s for sure.”
It’s not the first time Hudson has said she’s “very happy” in her relationship. During an interview earlier this year, she used the same words, adding that she’s in a “happy place.” Her and Common’s movie Breathe is expected to be released in 2024.
