Jennifer Hudson Says She Wants to Get Back into Music, Hints at Romance with Common

American Idol alum Jennifer Hudson recently chatted with The Big Tigger Morning Show on Audacy’s V-103 (Atlanta). The singer discussed her desire to get back into music and the possibility of a Verzuz against Fantasia. She also hinted at her rumored relationship with Common.

Jennifer Hudson Wants to Get Back into Music

“Let me get back into some music,” Hudson said when asked about her upcoming projects, adding that she wants to do “more animation and recording” in addition to hosting her talk show. The EGOT winner hasn’t released a new album since 2014.

Hudson also brought up the possibility of doing a Verzuz battle against American Idol winner Fantasia. As she said, “We are like two of the original divas from American Idol that has been blessed to do a lot of things in this industry. I think it’d be a great full circle at some point for us to do that.”

Co-host Ms. Pat also mentioned that she saw Hudson riding a bike around the set of her talk show. The singer explained that she tries to take a moment to herself to find her “inner peace.” She shared, “I just need two seconds to gather myself so I can be the best Jennifer.”

Hudson Hinted at Her Romance with Common

Hudson is currently rumored to be dating rapper and actor Common. Although he didn’t mention Common by name, co-host Darian “Big Tigger” Morgan asked if Hudson’s recent happy attitude is “to do with the rumors circulating about who you may or may not be in a relationship with.”

At first, Hudson responded with giggles. Then she shared, “I was gonna tell you. I am very happy.” Hudson proceeded to sing that she was in a “happy place.” The singer didn’t give any further details, but she certainly didn’t deny the romance either.

Hudson has been busy hosting her daytime talk show, which premiered last September. Earlier this year, she shared the news that the show was renewed for a second season.
