Earlier this month, Kelly Clarkson announced that she would be stepping away from hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show after the current season. In a new report, sources reveal the alleged reasons behind Clarkson’s difficult decision.
Why Is Kelly Clarkson Leaving Her Talk Show?
When announcing her departure from The Kelly Clarkson Show on social media, Clarkson wrote that she hoped to “prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives.” Clarkson’s ex-husband Brandon Blackstock passed away last August after a battle with cancer.
“Kelly didn’t realize how all-consuming the show would be. It’s her entire life,” a source told Us Weekly, adding that Clarkson was “surprised” by the show’s success. “The talk show became more than she initially bargained for, and left her with little time to pursue anything else.”
In addition to spending more time with her kids, leaving the show will also give her a chance to focus more on her music. As the source shared, “Kelly asked herself, ‘Do I want to spend the rest of my life doing this?’ She wants to focus on things that she really loves.”
Another source said that Clarkson will soon be able to “split her time between live performances and her merchandising deals and take a step back.”

Clarkson Is Apparently Open to Finding Love
Clarkson and Blackstock tied the knot in 2013 and welcomed two children together before separating in 2020. In 2022, their divorce was finalized. Clarkson has not had another public relationship since the split.
“Kelly would love to have a partner, and she will when the time is right,” a source told Us Weekly. “She has so much on her shoulders, and it does get overwhelming, and it’s nice to have someone to lean on. But I can’t imagine her bringing someone into their lives right now.”
Clarkson relocated from Los Angeles to New York in 2023, but a source shared that she might end up moving back to Tennessee at some point. As they explained, “NYC was fun initially, but then it became stressful. Kelly prefers the quality of life she had in Nashville.”
